Burlington youths will now have a space that they can call their own right in the heart of the Old North End.

Burlington Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department and the Association of Africans Living in Vermont on Sunday hosted a kickoff event for the O.N.E Youth Center, which is located on the second floor of the Old North End Community Center, the former St. Joseph School, on 20 Allen Street.

The standard gestation period for a record — writing, pre-production, recording, mixing, mastering, promotion and distribution — is generally two to three years. But Burlington-based rapper LoKi (real name Liam Corcoran) recently decided to test his limits and record an entire album in 24 hours. The project is titled 0-25 (The 24HR Challenge).

Corcoran presents his work, along with visuals, on Saturday, August 26, at MilkHaus Studios' 5th Annual Art Show in Ferrisburgh.

You know their name. You know their music. You danced around your bedroom singing their songs into a hairbrush. You mimicked their outlandish fashions. You can effortlessly rattle off the qualifications of the garden variety "scrub."

They're called TLC, and they headline I Love the ’90s: The Party Continues Tour on Friday, August 25, at the Champlain Valley Fair in Essex Junction. Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath, Rob Base, All 4 One, C&C Music Factory featuring Freedom Williams and SNAP!  add support.

From August 22 to 24, the largest summer sporting event will happen in Vermont — and it’s not baseball or boating. It’s tennis, bringing some of the tour’s top male players to the Green Mountain State on the eve of the U.S. Open in New York City.

Playing host are Grand Slam Tennis Tours, a Stowe-based travel company that has worked with Stowe Mountain Lodge to build a brand-spanking-new stadium, invite athletes and sell tickets. “What we’re doing here in Stowe goes beyond a tennis tourney,” says public relations director Kyle Ross. “It changes the American tennis landscape.”

This week, Seven Days lobbed a few questions at Ross about the Stowe Mountain Lodge Tennis Classic.

Super Troopers fans, the wait is nearly over. After years of speculation and rumors — and a ridiculously successful 2015 crowdfunding campaign to get the movie rolling — Super Troopers 2 is really happening. The long-anticipated sequel to the 2002 comedy classic about a group of bumbling Vermont State Troopers is unofficially slated for a spring 2018 release.  We know, we know: You want it right meow.  But according to actor Steve Lemme — aka trooper MacIntyre "Mac" Womack — it's gonna be worth the wait.

"It's going to be our widest release," says Lemme in a recent phone call with Seven Days. "And it's testing better than any movie we've tested. It came out fantastic."

In the five years since Zephyr Teachout performed in Happy Days at the Unadilla Theatre, she has run for governor of New York and the U.S. Congress to represent upstate New York, where she lives in the Hudson Valley.

Now the former Vermonter is returning to the Marshfield summer theater  to reprise her role of  Winnie in the Samuel Beckett play.

"It's a lot easier to tell people what you think about fracking than to memorize Beckett,"  Teachout said over the phone, on break from rehearsal. She added that her experience in theater proved useful to her as a candidate for political office.

"I will say that being at the Unadilla, over the years, certainly makes you more comfortable standing up in front of people and telling them what you think about things," Teachout said.
